Every deliverable is reviewed by someone who did not produce it, against the brief you actually sent.
Review is a separate step, not a final read-through
The person who did the work is the worst possible person to check it. They know what they meant, so they read what they intended rather than what is there.
Every project is therefore reviewed by a second specialist before it reaches you. That review is scheduled into the timeline, not squeezed in afterwards.
What the reviewer checks
- Brief compliance. Does this answer what was actually asked, including the parts buried in the middle of a long email?
- Method soundness. Is the approach defensible, and are its assumptions stated?
- Reproducibility. Can the analysis be re-run from the files supplied and produce the same result?
- Accuracy. Do the numbers in the text match the numbers in the tables, and do the tables match the output?
- Formatting. Does it match the style, template or specification you gave us?
- Originality. Is everything properly attributed, and is the analysis genuinely ours rather than paraphrased from a source?
Reproducibility is the standard we hold ourselves to
For any analytical project, you receive the means to reproduce the result — SPSS syntax, an R script, a do-file, a notebook. Not just the output.
This matters for three reasons. It lets you re-run the analysis when a supervisor asks "what if you exclude those two cases". It lets you show your working at a viva. And it means we cannot quietly hand over something we cannot justify.
If an analysis cannot be reproduced from the files we supply, it is not finished — regardless of how good the output looks.
When something is wrong
Occasionally it will be. What matters then is what happens next.
Tell us specifically what is wrong. Revision within the agreed scope is included and we will not argue about whether a genuine error is in scope. Where we got it wrong, we fix it and say so.
